Canal Street facade, Chicago Union Station, Illinois, 1926. Chicago Union Station opened in 1925, replacing an earlier station built in 1881. It is the only intercity rail terminal in Chicago. The station buildings were designed by Daniel Burnham. Burnham died before construction work began and the project was completed by Graham, Anderson, Probst and White.
