'Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano. Basilique de St. Jean de Latran)', c19th century. (Basilica of St. John Lateran). One of four major basilicas of Rome, built on Mount Lateran and considered the mother in antiquity and dignity of all churches of Rome and the world. The Basilica of St. John Lateran was built between 320 and 324AD and popes have resided in the Lateran Palace next door for over ten centuries.
