'Attack on Leith', c1560, (c1880). The Siege of Leith ended a twelve-year encampment of French troops at Leith, 1548 to 1560. At the end of January 1560, an English fleet, under the command of William Wynter, arrived in the Firth of Forth, on Sunday 14 April, Easter day, the English bombardment began.
