Kitchen of Old Wardour Castle, Wiltshire, in the Middle Ages, c14th century, (c1990-2010). The heat and bustle of the main kitchen at Old Wardour. All the kitchen staff would have been men: female domestic servants were very uncommon in the Middle Ages. Interior reconstruction drawing. Wardour Castle was built in the 1390s, partially destroyed in 1643 and 1644 during the English Civil War, is managed by English Heritage and designated as a grade I listed building.
