Goodrich Castle, Worcestershire, c12th century, (1990-2010). Cutaway reconstruction of the gatehouse, facing east showing the winches in the upper chamber designed to raise the portcullises.Norman medieval castle in Herefordshire, England. Probably built by Godric of Mappestone, in the middle of the 12th century the original castle was replaced with a stone keep, then expanded significantly during the late 13th century. Now owned by English Heritage
