'Richmond at Bosworth, 1902. Battle of Bosworth Field, 22 August 1485. Richard III (1452-1485), last Yorkist king of England from 1483. Richard was killed on the battlefield and the crown passed to the Lancastrian champion, Henry Tudor (1457-1509) who, as Henry VII, became the first Tudor monarch of England. Bosworth was the decisive battle in the Wars of the Roses (1455-1487), the struggle between the houses of York and Lancaster for the throne of England. After a work by Patten Wilson (1869-1934).
