'Edward III on the morning of Cressy', c1860, (c1860). The Battle of CrÚcy, an important English victory during the Edwardian phase of the Hundred Years' War. The battle was fought on 26th August 1346 near CrÚcy, in northern France. An army of English, Welsh, and Holy Roman Empire troops led by Edward III of England engaged and defeated a larger army of French, Genoese and Majorcan troops led by Philip VI of France.
