Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, British soldier, c1900. Baden-Powell (1857-1941) won fame during the 2nd Boer War (1899-1902) as the defender of Mafeking which was under siege from 1899 until it was relieved by Field Marshal Roberts on 19 May 1900. In 1910 he founded the Boy Scouts. (Colorised black and white print).
