Construction of New Government Offices, Great George Street, Westminster, London, 1902. Work stops for a few moments during the building of New Government Offices, later HM Treasury. These buildings, designed by JM Brydon and Sir Henry Tanner of the Office of Works, were constructed in two phases, and were not completed until 1915. In the background is the previous generation of government offices by Sir George Gilbert Scott and Matthew Digby Wyatt built between 1861 and 1873. The architectural photography firm SB Bolas & Co took this photograph, and secured several other government contracts to record new buildings and temporary structures. Silver gelatin DOP print.
