Roman wall-painting, Ulysees and the Sirens, Pompeii, 1st century. Depicts scene from Homer's Odyssey in which Ulysses (Odysseus) resists bewitching songs of the Sirens by having his ship's crew tie him up, while they are ordered to block their own ears to prevent them from hearing the song. British Museum.
