Cross (Holderness Cross), 7th century. High-status pectoral cross; gold and cloisonne work inlaid with garnets; an early example of the Christian symbol in Anglo-Saxon England made with a technique known from pagan jewellery of the period; fifty-eight of the original ninety-five garnets survive.
