Camber Castle, Rye, East Sussex, c1945-c1980. Camber Castle was built on the low-lying coastal dunes in around 1540 as part of Henry VIII's defensive scheme to counter invasion from the French and Spanish. Formerly on a headland, it is now some way inland due to silting. The castle is now in the care of English Heritage.
