'Lady Elizabeth Gray soliciting assistance and protection from Edward IV', (1793). 18th century imagining of Lady Elizabeth Grey (c1437-1492), said to be the most beautiful woman in England, and her future husband, King Edward IV. She was married to Sir John Grey who was killed fighting on the Lancastrian side at the Battle of St Albans (1461) during the Wars of the Roses. She married Edward in 1464.
