'Bishop Cranmer', (18th century?). Thomas Cranmer (1489-1556) was the Archbishop of Canterbury during the reigns of the English kings Henry VIII and Edward VI. Cranmer was put on trial for treason and heresy and died a martyr for the principles of the English Reformation.
