Old Dunkards Church, Antietam, Maryland, USA, c1900. During the Battle of Antietam, 17 September 1862, Dunker Church was the focal point of Union attacks against the Confederates. The following day, there was supposedly a truce between the opposing sides in front of the church, in order to exchange wounded and bury the dead.
