Queen Elizabeth's Room in Penshurst Place, Kent, 1894. The Queen Elizabeth Room, named after Elizabeth I who often held audience there during her many visits after 1599. Penshurst Place was the birthplace of the great Elizabethan poet, courtier and soldier, Sir Philip Sidney.
