The Crooked Spire of St Mary and All Saints Church, built in the 13th century and allegedly twisted because of the lack of skilled craftsmen due to the plague, now believed to have been caused by lead heated by the sun that was laid on to the wooden shingles on the south side, expanding faster than on the north, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England.
