Grenadier at Memorial Well, Cawnpore, India, 1902. The Memorial Garden at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was established to commemorate the tragic events of India's First War of Independence in 1857, when many women and children died at the site of the Bibighar Well. The Gothic screen in the Municipal Gardens covering the Bibighar Well was designed by Colonel Sir Henry Yule.
