Kirkstall Abbey, Yorkshire, 1823. View of the ruined nave at Kirkstall in West Yorkshire. This Cistercian monastery was built between 1152 and 1182. It was surrendered to the Crown in 1539 after Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries. The ruins attracted several artists to paint them, including Turner.
