'The Figure in Panyer Alley', 1897. A stone monument, near St Paul's Cathedral in London, shows a boy seated on an upturned basket (or panyer), with the inscription: 'When ye have sought the City Round. Yet still this is the highest ground. August the 27 1688'. Measurements taken in the 19th century showed that at that time Panyer Alley fell one foot short of being the City's highest point.
