'Interior of Goldsmith's Hall, 1876', (1897). Goldsmiths' Hall, headquarters of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, one of the livery companies of the City of London. The building was designed by Philip Hardwick, and was used as an assay office. The process of evaluating and stamping precious metals gave rise to the term 'hallmarking'.
