'The Weigh-House Chapel', (1897). View of the Dissenters' chapel in Eastcheap, City of London, which was built above the King's Weigh House in 1697. The Weigh House was where 'Merchant Strangers' were required to have their goods weighed in order to assess customs duties. The chapel operated until 1834 when it moved to larger premises. From Old and New London, Volume I, by Walter Thornbury. [Cassell and Company, Limited, London, Paris & Melbourne, 1897]
