'Remains of the Chapel of St. Thomas, Old London Bridge', (c1872). The Chapel of St Thomas on the Bridge was built in 1209. In 1548, during the Reformation, it was dissolved as a place of worship and became a dwelling and warehouse. The vaulting of the Lower Chapel was exposed when Chapel Pier on London Bridge was demolished in 1832.
