'The Barber-Surgeons Picture', (c1872). Engraving after 'Henry VIII Presenting a Charter to the Barber Surgeons Company', painting by Holbein. The king presenting a charter to Thomas Vicary, the first Master of the Company of Barbers and Surgeons, in 1540. The painting, which hung in the Barber Surgeons' Hall in the City of London, was said by Samuel Pepys to have been badly damaged in teh Great Fire of 1666.
