Grade's monoplane, 1908, (1932). German aviation pioneer Hans Grade (1879-1946) made the first successful motor-flight over German soil at Magdeburg in 1908. Eugene and Moritz Garbáty, who were Jewish, were driven out of business by the Nazis in the late 1930s, and forced to sell their factory which lay empty for over 70 years.
