Zeppelin LZ 121 Nordstern, 1919, (1932). German civilian airship, a Y-Class zeppelin with a total length of 130.8 metres (429 ft 2 in). LZ 121 was nicknamed Nordstern ('North Star') while in German service. After World War I she was given to France as war reparations. She was renamed the Méditerranée and operated as a civilian air transport. From "Die Eroberung Der Luft", (The Conquest of the Air), cigarette card album produced by the Garbáty cigarette factory, 1932. Eugene and Moritz Garbáty, who were Jewish, were driven out of business by the Nazis in the late 1930s, and forced to sell their factory which lay empty for over 70 years.
