'Bernhard Herzog Von Weimar', (1933). Portrait of Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar (1604-1639), German prince and general in the Thirty Years War. Saxe-Weimar was one of the commanders on the Protestant side during the war. He assumed command at the Battle of Luetzen (1632) after King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden was killed during the fighting, leading the combined Swedish and German army to victory.
