'Great Hall With Its Clustering Beams and Ornamental Water', c1935. The Crystal Palace at Sydenham in south London was designed by Joseph Paxton (1803-1865) for the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was later moved from Hyde Park in central London to Sydenham, and hosted numerous exhibitions and displays. The building was destroyed by fire during the night of 30th November 1936.
