'Finding The Colours of the 24th Regiment After The Battle of Chilianwallah, January 1849'. The Battle of Chillianwala, in the Chillianwala region of Punjab, India, (now Mandi Bahauddin, Pakistan), was fought in January 1849 during the Second Anglo-Sikh War. The battle, between the British East India Company and the Sikh Empire, was a bloody one. Both armies held their positions at the end of the battle and both sides claimed victory.
