'Charles The First In The Guard Room', 1649, (mid 19th century). King Charles I is insulted by the soldiers of Oliver Cromwell, 27 January 1649. Charles (1600-1649) was monarch of the three kingdoms of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 27 March 1625 until his execution on 30 January 1649.
