'Blenheim, South East View, Oxfordshire', 1831. View of Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. One of Britain's greatest stately homes, Blenheim was intended to be a gift from a grateful nation to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, after his victories over the French during the War of the Spanish Succession. The palace was designed in English Baroque style by Sir John Vanbrugh, and was built between 1705 and 1722. [Jones & Co, Finsbury Square, London, 1831]
