'A View of the Engagement & memorable Victory obtain'd by Admiral Earl Howe, over the French Fleet, on the 1st of June 1794'. Dramatic sea battle in the English Channel. On the left is HMS Brunswick, and on the right the Jacobin and HMS Defence. Sailors can be seen falling into the sea amid cannon fire and explosions. British admiral Earl Howe (1726-1799) commanded the English fleet that decisively defeated the French in the Battle of Ushant (the Glorious First of June) in 1794.
