'Henry W. Acland, Esq. .D. F.R.S. &c', 1850s. Portrait of British physician Sir Henry Wentworth Acland, 1st Bt (1815-1900). Acland served as personal physician to the then Prince of Wales on his tour of Canada and the United States in 1860. He was also interested in public health: he published a study of the outbreak of cholera at Oxford in 1854, and sat on the Royal Commission on sanitary laws in England and Wales in 1869.
