Ellen Terry, c1863, (1948). Portrait of British actress Dame Ellen Terry (1847-1928). Terry was the leading Shakespearean actress of her time. Aged 16 she married the 46-year-old artist George Frederic Watts, but they separated within a year. She is pictured here 'when Mrs. G. F. Watts'.
