St Giles Street, Norwich, Norwich, Norfolk, 1941-1950. A view looking west from the tower of the City Hall along St Giles Street with St Giles's Church in the centre of the frame and St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cathedral in the distance. Designed by Giles Gilbert Scott and completed in 1910, the cathedral was a parish church at the time of the photgraph. It gained cathedral status in 1976 following the establishment of the new Catholic diocese of East Anglia.
