'Sir Willoughby Cotton', 1842. Portrait of Lieutenant General Sir Willoughby Cotton (1783-1860), British soldier. Cotton was Adjutant-General under Arthur Wellesley (future Duke of Wellington) and fought in the Peninsular Wars, the First Anglo-Burmese War, the First Anglo-Afghan War, and played a major role in the suppression of the slave revolt in Jamaica.
