Butcher's receipt, 1940. Receipt issued by A.E. Godly, 'High-Class Meat Purveyor', of Montague Street, Worthing in Sussex, stamped 'Received with thanks' and dated 18 July 1940. Rationing of meat during the Second World War did not start until later. By 1942, meat, milk, cheese, eggs and cooking fat were rationed.
