'Volga Landscape', 1965. Boats on the River Volga in Russia. Fedor Vasilyev (1850-1873) studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts. A gifted landscape painter, he died of tuberculosis at the age of 23. Painting, also known as 'Barges on the Volga', in the collection of The State Russian Museum, St Petersburg. From "Russian Painting of the 18th and 19th Centuries" by Vladimir Fiala.
