Angel of the Memorial Well, Cawnpore, India, 1895. Statue of an angel in the Memorial Garden at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The Garden was established to commemorate the tragic events of India's First War of Independence in 1857, when many women and children died at the site of the Bibighar Well. The angel, sculpted by Baron Carlo Marochetti, was surrounded by Henry Yule's Gothic screen in the Municipal Gardens covering the Bibighar Well.
