'House in Which Stonewall Jackson Died, Richmond, Virginia', c1897. Stonewall Jackson, a Confederate general during the American Civil War, regarded as a gifted tactical commander, was shot in May 1863, lost his left arm to amputation and died of pneumonia eight days later.
