Relief, Church of St Gregory the Great, Kirknewton, Northumberland, c1955-c1980. Detail of a relief of the Adoration of the Magi, most likely 12th century, with thick rendering surrounding it. Most of the church has work from c1860, but there is some older masonry in the south transept, and the chancel arch could date to the 13th - 14th centuries, and the priest's door and south window are possibly 16th century. The style is crude, with the Magi's right arm raised stiffly to greet the three Kings approaching from the left.
