Jean de France, duc de Berry (1340-1416, the seated figure in a blue robe) at a New Year banquet, with a battle scene in the background. A page from the "Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry", a book of hours produced for the Duc de Berry and commissioned from the Limbourg brothers. Made between c1412 and 1489, and regarded as one of the finest examples of European manuscript illumination, it is held at the Musee Condé, Chantilly, France. Published in "Verve - No. 7, Vol. II".
