February - village under the snow, 15th century, (1939). 'Février - Le Village Sous La Neige'. Winter scene with a man chopping firewood, beehives, a dovecote, sheep in a pen, and birds eating grain. On the left people lift their clothes revealing their genitals as they warm themselves at a fire. A page from the "Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry", a book of hours produced for Jean, Duc de Berry and commissioned from the Limbourg brothers. Made between c1412 and 1489, and regarded as one of the finest examples of European manuscript illumination, it is held at the Musee Condé, Chantilly, France. Published in "Verve - No. 7, Vol. II".
