Madelon, 1868. The character of Madelon in the theatrical comedy of manners "Les Précieuses Ridicules" by Jean Baptiste de Molière. The play was inspired by les precieuses, witty and educated intellectual ladies who frequented the salon of the marquise de Rambouillet. It was first staged in 1659.
