'Elizabeth Woodcock - Who was buried in Snow nearly 8 days', 1821. Portrait of Elizabeth Woodcock (born c1757), recuperating in bed after being buried in snow for eight days with no food. Tired out after chasing her horse near Impington in Cambridgeshire, she sat down on the ground during a snowstorm and was soon covered. The portrait was made in 1799 when she was aged 42.
