'Elizabeth Brownrigg, Executed for Cruelty & Murder', 1822. Portrait of Elizabeth Brownrigg (1720-1767) who was convicted of murder and hanged at Tyburn (in London) in 1767. She was found to have severely physically abused domestic servants, one of whom died from infected wounds.
