'Ruins at Karnak', 1890. Construction of Karnak Temple Complex began during the reign of Senusret I in the Middle Kingdom and continued to the Ptolemaic period. Karnak was main place of worship of the 18th dynasty and part of the city of Thebes. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
