'Argos', 1890. Argos in Argolis, Peloponnese, Greece, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. In 494 BC, Argos suffered crushing defeat from rival, Sparta, at the Battle of Sepiea and was a neutral ally of Athens during the Archidamian War.
