From "Princess Mary's Gift Book", a collection of children's stories by the leading authors of the day, with illustrations from well-known artists. Profits from the book, published on behalf of Princess Mary, the Princess Royal, went to The Queen's Work for Women Fund, intended to initiate and subsidise projects for employing women during World War One.
