Emperor Otto the Great, (1936). 'Kaiser Otto Der Grosse', 912-973 AD. King Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor, with the 'Holy Lance'. The Lance, (also known as the Lance of Longinus, named after Saint Longinus, the Spear of Destiny, or the Holy Spear), was legendarily believed to be the lance that pierced the side of Jesus as he hung on the cross. There have been several relics that are claimed to be the Holy Lance, or parts of it. From "Bilder Deutscher Geschichte", (Pictures of German History), No.12, cigarette card album.
